On December the 6th the Direct Marketing Association Awards took place at the Old Billingsgate in London. The leading Marketing agencies and brands were present to contend for the awards. We were there as sponsors of the Photo Booth which was certainly home to some interesting and diverse photographs over the course of the night.
After an elegant drinks reception, host James Nesbitt kicked the awards off at around 7:30, the actor was in good form, as were the brilliant ACM Gospel Choir band playing behind him and that helped provide the foundations for a great atmosphere on the night.
Who were the winners?
Karmarama led the way, the advertising agency won four golds and the coveted Grand Prix award. 3 of their Golds came from their work with DFS but on the Grand Prix winning campaign Karmarama worked with Unibet. Julia Porter chair of the DMA said: ‘Amidst a high-quality range of campaigns and innovative thinking in this year’s Grand Prix, Karmarama’s Unibet campaign was a highlight. It successfully combined a brave strategy in a challenging sector to truly stand out with great creative and fantastic results.’
Not far behind were MRM Meteorite, another agency where Bodhi Resourcing have successfully placed candidates – they too won 4 golds. 3 of these came from their work with Microsoft, winning Best digital performance, Best launch campaign & Best use of technology. The other for their work with Tommee Tippee, winning Best writing.
OglivyOneUK came in 3rd place with 3 golds, all coming from their campaign with What3Words – Best design or art direction, Best use of mail & Best B2B campaign.
Not far behind and in joint 4th were LIDA, winning 2 golds with Best loyalty or CRM programme (IKEA) & IT/telecommunications (O2).
Why Bodhi sponsored the event
Bodhi’s presence was certainly felt on the night with the branded Photo Booth popular with the guests. We also have a full page advert in the DMA Annual so keep an eye out for our own creative advertising campaign. We decided to sponsor the DMA Awards because of our success in the Marketing and Insight sector in 2016. Bodhi have successfully placed candidates at LIDA, MRM Meteorite, CACI and Karmarama who were all at the very least nominated for an award on the night, with 10 golds between them. The success of our existing clients in several awards helps highlight how the recruitment we’ve done so far in this sector has been successful. On the back of these awards we are hoping to continue our growth in this area, with Data-Driven Marketing becoming increasingly integral to so many companies marketing approaches. If you were there, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It was certainly an evening to remember, and with any luck the pictures from the photo booth will help you do just that. Here’s one for the pin board from us rather early in the night!
